In the highly competitive world of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), where ambitions soar and dreams are tested, Riya Agarwal from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, stands as a symbol of perseverance and success. A district topper in the CBSE Board 12th exams, Riya cracked the JEE Main and is now studying at IIT Bombay, fulfilling a long-held dream.
Riya’s journey began early, as she started preparing for JEE from the 9th standard. Her dedication paid off when she cleared the JEE Main in 2023 after taking a gap year for focused preparation. Although a strong student, she wasn’t satisfied with her initial JEE results in 2022. Determined to improve, she spent the year honing her skills and cleared the exam in 2023, securing a seat at one of India’s top engineering institutes.
Currently, in her second year, Riya is pursuing a BTech in Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay, with a minor in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Her love for math and physics, along with inspiration from her maternal grandfather, who was also a civil engineer and an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, fueled her desire to pursue engineering.
Throughout her preparation, Riya drew motivation from educational videos on Instagram and YouTube. She didn’t have a specific branch in mind but knew she wanted to become an engineer at a prestigious institution like IIT.
Riya’s story is not the only remarkable one. Last year, Satyam Kumar, a boy from a farmer’s family in Bihar, made headlines for an extraordinary achievement. At the age of 13, Satyam cracked the JEE with an exceptional All India Rank (AIR) of 670, making him the youngest Indian to pass the IIT-JEE. His feat has inspired countless students across the country.
Riya’s and Satyam’s journeys serve as a reminder that perseverance and dedication can turn even the toughest challenges into success stories.
