Over one crore people including students, teachers, and parents — the highest ever since the event started in 2018 — have registered this year for the seventh edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s annual interaction with school students that will be held on January 29, the ministry of education (MoE) said on Friday.
The event organised by the ministry’s department of school education and literacy will be held at the Bharat Mandapam, ITPO, Pragati Maidan.
According to the ministry, as of January 5, over 90 lakh students, more than 8 lakh teachers, and around 2 lakh parents have registered on the MyGov portal so far.
Last year, a total of 38.80 lakh students, of which 16 lakh were from state boards, had registered for the event.
“This year the programme will be held in a town hall format starting 11 am onwards. Nearly 4,000 participants will be interacting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the programme. Two students and a teacher from each of the states and UTs and winners of the Kala Utsav and the Veer Gatha competition may be invited as special guests for the main event,” the ministry said in a statement.
PPC is part of the larger movement — Exam Warriors — led by the PM, who has previously written a book on the subject, about creating a stress-free environment where the unique individuality of each child is celebrated, encouraged and allowed to express itself fully.
Every year select students from schools across the country get a chance to interact with the Prime Minister on their queries around the subject. Parents and teachers too are a part of the programme.
About 2,050 participants will be selected based on their questions on the MyGov portal and will be presented with a special Pariksha Pe Charcha kit consisting of the Exam Warriors book in Hindi and English, written by the PM, and a certificate.
