Virat Kohli was revealed as the highest-paying taxpayer among sportspersons. The tax paid by the Indian icon is as much as what fellow legends like MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar combined. But where does the Indian batting icon stack up amongst the highest tax-paying celebrities in India?
According to a report by Fortune India, Virat Kohli sits fifth amongst India’s highest celebrity tax-payers for the 2024 fiscal year. Above him are the likes of iconic actors across the country like Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan respectively.

India’s ODI and T20 World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni is not too far behind as he sits at seventh in the list with a reported 38 crores being paid as tax. Above him, however, is the Bollywood actor, Ajay Devgn. who sits at the sixth position with 42 crores being paid as part of his annual taxation.
The legendary Sachin Tendulkar and the actor Hrithik Roshan share the ninth position with 28 crores. But another Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor stands above them at eighth with 36 crores.
The popular comedian Kapil Sharma sits at 26 crores in the 10th position following which the former India captain and BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly finds himself at 11th.
Kareena Kapoor is at the 12th spot with 20 crores while the likes of Shahid Kapoor, Mohanlal and Allu Arjun share the 13th spot with 14 crores. The T20 World Cup 2024 hero, Hardik Pandya is in the 14th position with 13 crores.
Kiara Advani finds herself at the 15th position at 12 crores followed by Katrina Kaif and Pankaj Tripathi at the 16th position with 11 crores. The last two positions (17th) is shared by the actor, Aamir Khan along with the Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant with 10 crores being paid as tax.
Indian Cricket remains a hot commodity in both the international games along with the Indian Premier League being the most lucrative franchise cricketing league in the world. So it comes as no surprise that the nation’s best players are coming within the top brackets of the tax-paying list among celebrities.
