Rajasthan Royals shared video of a heartwarming meeting between Riyan Parag and his mother after the MI vs RR clash in IPL 2024.

Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag has taken the Orange Cap following his second fifty in the ongoing season of IPL 2024. The youngster struck 54 runs off 39 balls when his team was chasing 126 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

His unbeaten knock helped Rajasthan notch up a six-wicket victory in the away match.

After the match, Riyan met his family at the team hotel with his mother giving him a warm welcome.

His mother, Mithu Barua who was a national-level swimmer, welcomed Riyan with hugs and forehead kisses. She turned quite emotional after seeing the Orange Cap  and then the mother-son proceeded to click a picture together.

RR later dropped a video on Instagram of the heartwarming moment. The caption of the post read, “No one loves you like your mom does.”

Riyan has had a terrific start to IPL 2024.

The 22-year-old had gone through a lean patch over the past few seasons which drew criticism. The scenario, so far, is quite different this year though.

Riyan kicked off the campaign with a quickfire 43 against Lucknow Super Giants and breached the 50-run mark in the following two matches.

Riding on his second half-century of the season, Riyan dethroned Virat Kohli to take the Orange Cap. In his three appearances in the 2024 IPL, he has aggregated 181 runs at a strike rate of 160.17.

Kohli also has the same runs but Riyan’s average (181) is better.

After RR claimed their third consecutive victory, Riyan was asked what he’s doing differently this time around. “Nothing has changed, just that I have simplified things. Before I would think about things too much, this year the goal is simple, watch the ball, hit the ball. It’s a funny thing, I have said it before, this is the exact situation I go in to bat in domestic cricket,” he said.
