It was an emphatic win for the Delhi Capitals against Gujarat Titans as they outclassed the 2022 champions with a dominant bowling performance to bundle out Shubman Gill’s side for just 89 runs which was then chased down in just 8.5 overs.
Supporting the bowling performance was none other than the skipper Rishabh Pant who showcased his class from behind the stumps taking two catches and enforcing two stumping dismissals as well to blow out GT which got him the Player of the Match award.
Speaking at the post-match presentations, Pant was very pleased with the side’s performance at Ahmedabad which is a refreshing sight following a barrage of losses. The skipper highlighted some of the conversations before the game where they focused on maintaining a champion-like mentality throughout to help them turn their fortunes around.

He said,” We talked about the champion’s thought process and our team showed today that we can play like that and happy to see it, especially on the bowling front”.
Despite the dominating performance, Pant does not want to get too carried away with the win as he wants the team to focus on bettering themselves on an individual basis which in turn will lead to better performances. He added, “One of the best performances, it’s still early on in the tournament, can’t say much as we continue to improve individually”.
He also spoke on what was the mentality as he recovered from a dangerous car accident which ruled him out for well over a year. “The only thought process before coming onto the field was coming in a better way, that’s the only thought when I was going through my rehab,” said the Indian international.

The plans as revealed by Pant for the chase was to get the meagre target of 90 as quickly as possible to make up for the dent in their net run rate following a couple of losses they suffered in this season. He said,” The conversation we had before the chase was – let’s get it as early as possible, we lost a few run-rate points earlier and we likely covered it up”.
Pant was elated as the side was able to continue hammering the Titans at their home ground. It was in the very same fixture in the previous season where GT suffered the previous record for the lowest total in their history. DC managed to one-up that with an even better performance with the ball to bundle them out for their first double-digit score.

He concluded by saying,” We just love being in Ahmedabad, we love the stadium, and the vibe here and looking forward to playing more matches here. We just want to enjoy our win, one at a time and move forward learning from it”.
