The bowling woes of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are not hidden anymore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They may have a star-studded batting line-up comprising Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Dinesh Karthik but the lack of firepower in their bowling department has been a major concern. The opposition favoured chasing against them after winning the toss and the situation was no different in Jaipur on Saturday evening.

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl straightaway. Asked if his decision had something to do with the opposition, he didn’t shy of admitting it.

“We would like to bowl first on this wicket. Something to do with the opposition, it’s a fresh wicket, expecting some help for the seamers and expecting some dew as well. It’s a long season, people are taking responsibility and finishing games. We are going in with the same team,” Sanju said after winning the toss.

Saurav Chauhan makes debut for RCB

RCB, who are looking to bounce back to winning ways, handed a debut to all-rounder Saurabh Kumar. Skipper Faf du Plessis heaped praise on the youngsters, calling him a ‘nice and calm guy’.

“We were thinking of the same, it looks like a good wicket, think it will remain the same in both innings. We have one change in our batting line-up. For me, it’s just a case of trusting our guys. We have been inconsistent; we get an opportunity to do things better,” Du Plessis said.

“We are trying to find the roles for the players, we are looking for that. That hasn’t worked as yet. We haven’t delivered. Not many people know him (Saurav Chauhan), he has some serious amount of skill and batting power, looks like a nice and calm guy,” he added.
