Days after Mumbai Indians played their final league match of IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma has shared a post on his social media accounts surmising his season with the franchise.
The former MI captain finished as MI’s top run-getter of the season that saw him hitting a an unbeaten century but in a losing cause. He scored 417 runs from 14 innings at a strike-rate of 150.

It was a forgettable competition for the five-time champions though as they finished at the last spot. MI managed just four wins out of 14 matches to finish with eight points – the second time they have finished with the wooden spoon in last three seasons.
Rohit himself wasn’t happy with the way he batted, admitting he didn’t live up to his own high standards.
“As a batter, I know I didn’t live up to the standard,” he said on JioCinema. “But, after playing for all these years, I know that if I overthink, I won’t play well. All I try is to stay in a good mindset, in the right zone, keep practicing, and improve on all the flaws in my game. That’s all I kept doing.”

Rohit said MI were themselves to be blamed for a horrible season.
“Our season didn’t go according to plan. We blame ourselves for this because we made too many mistakes during the season. We lost many games that we should have won, but that’s the nature of the IPL. You get a few chances and when those chances come, you must grab them,” he said.
Rohit will now shift his focus on the 2024 T20 World Cup where he will lead the Indian cricket team.
This is the second time in his career that the 37-year-old will be captaining India in a T20 World Cup which is being co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies this time around.
India have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, host USA, Ireland and Canada. The former champions start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
