IPL 2024 Orange Cap Update: Sanju Samson (68) and Riyan Parag (76) continued their red-hot form in the competition with disdainful half-centuries against GT.

Gujarat Titans (GT) pulled off a thrilling three-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match no. 24 on Wednesday. The defeat ended RR’s winning spree in the ongoing season.

Sanju Samson (68 not out off 38) and Riyan Parag (76 off 48) continued their red-hot form in the competition with disdainful half-centuries as Rajasthan Royals reached 196 for three after being put into bat. Parag took his game to the next level, thriving in his new batting position of number 4 and was at his disdainful best on way to his third half-century in five innings.   He shared a 130-run stand off 78 balls with Samson, who has also been in sublime touch since the start of the tournament.

Shubman Gill (72 off 44) fought a lonely battle for the major part of the Titans’ innings before Rahul Tewatia (22 off 11) and Rashid Khan pulled the rabbit out of the hat in a last-ball finish.

Parag’s innings took him to the second on the Orange Cap tally with a total of 261 runs in 5 matches. Gill also jumped up two places to notch the third spot on the table with 255 runs in 6 matches. RR skipper Sanju Samson also made a significant move, moving from 7th to 4th position with 246 runs in 5 matches. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan slipped to 5th spot following his 29-ball 35, taking his tally to 226 runs.

Points Table Update

Despite the 3-wicket loss to Gujarat, RR have managed to retain their spot with 8 points and NRR +0.871. GT, on the other hand, moved from 7th spot to the 6th with 6 points and NRR -0.637. Kolkata Knight Riders stand second with six points and the highest Net Rate Rate of +1.528. Lucknow Super Giants are third spot with 6 points and NRR 0.775 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings in fourth, with 6 points and 0.666 NRR. Sunrisers Hyderabad remained in the fifth spot with six points and an NRR of 0.344.

Purple Cap Update

Purple Cap IPL 2024 Update: Yuzvendra Chahal of Rajasthan Royals displaced CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman at the top of the Purple Cap list with  2/43 vs GT yesterday. but that was not enough to help his team win. Mohit Sharma moved up to 4th position with his 1/51.
