Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) walk out at Wankhede Stadium for one last time in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they square off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday. The hosts, already eliminated from the tournament with 9 losses, will play for their pride as they look to end the season victorious. On the other hand, LSG cannot afford to lose this all-important fixture to push their case for the last playoff spot.

The hosts won the toss on Friday and opted to bowl first against KL Rahul’s LSG. Skipper Hardik Pandya said the management has decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah before the speedster leaves for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Uncapped fast bowler Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, has replaced Bumrah in the playing XI. Middle-order batter Tilak Varma will miss out due to an injury, making way for Dewald Brevis.
“Chasing is better in Wankhede. It comes on nicer in the evening. It’s always about playing for the badge, playing for pride – all those words are important in the group. We know where we stand. But ending the season playing good cricket will always be appreciated. It gives us more freedom maybe to go out there and express ourselves,” said Pandya after winning the toss.
On the other hand, LSG have benched Quniton de Kock and replaced him with Devdutt Padikkal. New Zealand pacer Mat Henry will also take the field against MI.

“Quinton misses out, Devdutt comes in. Matt Henry comes in. Those are the big changes. Obviously disappointed. We started well in the season. A couple of weeks ago we were sitting in the top four. But that’s how the tournament is. It’s an opportunity today to come out and play our best cricket and entertain the crowd,” Rahul said at the toss.
Here are the Playing XI:
