'Listless Stuff, Need to Wake Up': Sunil Gavaskar Slams India's Performance in 1st Test Against SA
Sunil Gavaskar was critical of India's performance in the first Test against South Africa at Centurion where the Men in Blue were defeated within Day 3 of the Test.

India was on the losing side after suffering a crushing defeat to South Africa by an innings and 32 runs within Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test at the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion.

South Africa put on a massive lead of 163 runs thanks to the big knock by opening batter Dean Elgar who scored 185 runs of 287 deliveries. Marco Jansen also contributed with a handy knock of 84 runs to help boost the South African side’s lead.

Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin managed to give away a few runs while the wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul managed to drop the important catch of Jansen to add to the woes of the Indian bowlers.

Not happy with the performance of the Indian side, the former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar was critical of the performances seen by India in Centurion. He said,” “India needs to wake up. They have been listless till now. They should be full of energy at the start of the day but they have been all over the place. Listless stuff. At tea, maybe the spirits can be down. Not at the start of the day,” Gavaskar said on commentary.”

KL Rahul looked to help put India back in the game after his stellar knock in the first innings to score a century and push India’s first-innings total up to 245. But South Africa managed to display a masterclass in batting with the side posting a total of 408.

India however will look to regroup and come back strong in the second Test which will be held in Cape Town as Rohit Sharma’s side will aim to settle with a draw in the two-match Test series against South Africa.
