While Rohit Sharma enjoys a joyous family time, his season with the Mumbai Indians has been a stark contrast. The former skipper’s squad has lost its three opening games in their campaign for a sixth crown. Speaking of his individual numbers, Rohit had an impressive showing in their tournament opener against Gujarat. The star opener smashed 43 runs in 29 balls while chasing a total of 168/6. However, his side kept losing wickets before they ran out of balls at 162. In their second game against Hyderabad, Rohit gave his side a good start as he added a fast 26 runs in 12 balls which didn’t prove to be enough to reach the record-breaking total of 277. The situation turned from bad to worse, after Rohit was dismissed for a golden duck against the Rajasthan Royals in the third game of the season, leading to another loss.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, it was announced that Hardik Pandya would be returning to the Mumbai squad. Days later, the franchise revealed that the former Gujarat Titans skipper would also be succeeding Rohit Sharma as captain for the 2024 season. Pandya enjoyed two solid campaigns with Gujarat from 2022 to 2023. He spearheaded his side to back-to-back finals while winning the trophy on one occasion.

After three successive losses, Pandya will now be looking to clinch a victory against the Delhi Capitals in their next game. They will be competing against the Rishabh Pant-led side at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7.
