Lucknow Super Giants pacer, Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League due to injury. The pacer had joined the franchise in the 2024 auctions for a price of 6.4 crore INR and is yet to make an appearance for the side.
According to the franchise’s release posted on their website, Mavi’s injury is not revealed but the side confirmed that he will be unable to play for the ongoing season of IPL.
LSG following their loss in the opening game against the Rajasthan Royals, bounced back with consecutive victories against the Punjab Kings at home and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru away.

Mavi has played a total of 32 games in the tournament since making his debut back in 2018. He has picked up a total of 30 wickets at an economy rate of 8.71 runs per over and an average of 31.4.
He made his IPL debut in 2018 for the Kolkata Knight Riders where he played until 2022. Since then he moved to the Gujarat Titans for a price tag of 6 crores but was unable to make his mark with the side. Following this he moved again, this time he was picked up by LSG.

He also made his international debut against Sri Lanka in January 2023 and has only played 6 T20Is. His last game for the national team was against New Zealand at Ahmedabad on February 1, 2023.

In a video uploaded by LSG on their official handle on X, it was revealed that Mavi had come in just after an injury. He also shared that he has an injury once again. It remains unclear whether it is the same injury or something different.

The franchise is yet to have named their replacement but their pace-attack is already fairly strong with the likes of Yash Thakur, Shamar Joseph, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Matt Henry and Naveen-ul-Haq. The side will play their next game at home where they take on the Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
