After levelling their previous Test series in South Africa, India will once again be competing in red-ball cricket in their next assignment. Te hosts will be involved in a five-match Test series at home against the Ben Stokes-led England side. India’s Tests in South Africa began with a defeat by an innings and 32 runs. Only KL Rahul had a standout performance for the Asian side as he smashed a scintillating century in the Rainbow Nation. In the second game, a crucial knock from Virat Kohli enabled the visitors to seal a seven-wicket victory. Kohli will not be featuring in the opening two Tests against the English side. India will be looking to make some tactical decisions to counter the absence of their talismanic batter.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the first Test match between India and England. The opening Test will start on Thursday, January 25. England haven’t played a game in this format since the Ashes series at home last year. England will now look to make history as they hope to beat India on their turf after nearly 12 years. They had a disappointing showing at the ODI World Cup last year and hope to start the new year on a winning note.
Pitch Report:
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has always been more favourable to batters, especially in white-ball cricket. The flat conditions often help the team batting first. The pitch gradually starts breaking on the penultimate day and this can aid the bowlers in adding variations to their balls.
Weather Report:
Hyderabad is going to have generally clear skies on January 25 with just a seven per cent chance of precipitation. The average temperature in the Telangana-based city will range anywhere from 30 degrees Celsius in the morning to 19 degrees Celsius after sunset. Humidity should hover between 61 per cent during the day and 77 per cent at night. Wind speeds will range from 10 km/h to 15 km/h.
