Indian men’s cricket team batting coach Vikram Rathour took to Instagram on Monday (July 1) to share a picture of him with Indian captain Rohit Sharma and praised the 37-year-old right-handed batter by writing a heartwarming caption that is now going viral on the internet. In his Instagram post, Rathour lauded Rohit’s leadership and congratulated him for inspiring others with his actions to dream more, learn more, do more, and achieve more.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and achieve more. You are a leader. well done skipper,” Rathour’s post read.

India won the 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup under Rohit’s leadership on Saturday (June 29) after getting the better of South Africa by seven runs in the final played at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Rohit finished as the leading run scorer for India in the 20-team tournament, which was played across multiple venues in the West Indies and the USA.
After becoming the second Indian captain to win the T20 World Cup title, Rohit announced his retirement from T20Is. He finished his career with 4231 runs in 159 matches, which is a record for most runs scored by any batter in the shortest format of the game. In addition to that, Rohit also holds the record for hitting the most sixes in T20Is and is also the most successful captain in T20Is.
India’s win over South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 was Rohit’s 50th win as captain in 62 T20Is.
When will Rohit play next for India?
Rohit, who has announced his retirement from T20Is, is now set to go on a break and will be out of action for at least two months. He will make a comeback during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will be played in India. The first Test between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19 to 23, and Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the second red-ball match from September 27 to October 1.
