ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Mohammed Siraj Takes Blinder to Get Rid of Nitish Kumar in IND vs USA | WATCH

Mohammed Siraj pulled off a stunning catch at deep in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 encounter against the USA at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday.

Siraj, fielding at deep square leg, leapt in the air and managed to land with the ball safely in his possession to get rid of Nitish Kumar off Arshdeep Singh’s over.

India opted to field first after Rohit Sharma won the coin toss ahead of the fixture between hosts USA and India. Arshdeep gave India the best possible start as he scalped Shayan Jahangir in the very first delivery of the game as he trapped him plumb in front of the wicket for an LBW.

The pacer became the first Indian to claim a wicket in the opening delivery of a T20 WC game with the feat.

He doubled down on his wicket tally with the wicket of Andries Gous in the final ball of the first over to close out a remarkable opening over.

Hardik Pandya got on the wickets list with the dismissal of stand-in skipper Aaron Jones, who replaces Monank Patel due to the latter’s absence citing a shoulder strain.

Opener Steven Taylor added 24 runs, including two sixers before falling prey to Axar Patel, as the spinner castled the southpaw with a ripper.

Arshdeep completed his three-fer with the dismissal of Nitish as Siraj collected the plaudits for his blinder of a catch. Nitish added 27 runs before walking back to the hut.

Former Kiwi Corey Anderson added 15 runs to USA’s cause before being sent back to the dugout by Pandya, for his second scalp of the day, as Rishabh Pant collected the catch offered up to him by the southpaw.

Arshdeep added more wickets to his tally as he got the wicket of Harmeet Singh, as Pant held onto another catch.

USA limped past the triple-digit mark in the 18th over of the game after having lost seven wickets to the Indian bowling unit.
