Fans Question Top Pak Pacer's 'Self-respect' For Praising Babar Azam's Brutal Assault Against Him
Fans roasted Pakistani pacer Shahnawaz Dahani after the 26-year-old shared a video of Babar Azam hitting him for five fours in an over during the Champions One-Day Cup match played on Sunday.

Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam was on fire for Stallions in the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup 2024 match played against Markhors in Faislabad on Sunday (September 15). The 29-year-old right-handed batter, who is the current captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, top-scored for the Mohammad Haris-led side by scoring 45 runs from as many balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered nine fours, five of which were against Shahnawaz Dahani in one over itself.

After the conclusion of the match, which the Mohammad Rizwan-led side won by 116 runs to make it two wins in a row, Dahani took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of Babar hitting him for five fours. He captioned the video, “Just Cannot stop watching this again & again. Don’t think I would be able to sleep tonight. I just cannot understad, how Babar made it look so easy.”

Fans were left stunned after seeing Dahani’s post in which he himself praised the opposition batter for smashing him.

As soon as Dahani shared the tweet on popular microblogging and photo/video sharing social media platform, it went viral on the internet, and many fans questioned his self-respect.

Despite Babar’s good show with the bat, Stallions could only manage to score 105 runs in reply to the 231 total posted by Markhors. The 116-run defeat against the Rizwan-led side was Stallions first defeat in the ongoing five-team tournament, and with two points, they sit at No. 2 position in the points table. Stallions will next take on Saud Shakeel’s Dolphins on Thursday (September 19), whereas Markhors will face Dolphins on Tuesday (September 17).

Dahani’s record for Pakistan

26-year-old Dahani has played in two ODIs and 11 T20Is for Pakistan so far, in which he has 1 and 8 wickets, respectively, to his name. He made his international debut on November 22, 2021, against Bangladesh during a T20I match played in Mirpur. His ODI debut was against the West Indies in Multan on June 12, 2022. He hasn’t played for the Men in Green since October 11, 2022.
