Known for his ‘laidback’ demeanour, Rohit Sharma seems to be a hit with the younger crop of India stars. His ‘no filter’ bashing of teammates for on-field mistakes is a stuff of legends now but his teammates have a glowing review of how he treats junior members.

Dhruv Jurel made his India debut earlier this year during the home Test series against England and left quite an impression with his glovework and gritty batting on challenging surfaces. He says Rohit never makes any distinction between a junior and a senior player.
“To be honest, he’s quite (a) chill (guy. Jab tumse baat karenge toh aisa nahi lagta ki woh senior hai, tum junior ho. Humesha bahut casually baat karte hai (When he speaks with us, it never appears that he’s talking to a junior player,” Jurel told Sports Tak.
Jurel has played three Tests and two T20Is so far. While his Test debut came under Rohit, he played his first T20I under the captaincy of Shubman Gill in Zimbabwe.
“He (Rohit) always says, ‘If you need any help just come over, I don’t have any problem.’ Aapko comfortable feel karana. Test cricket mein jab naam aaya tha tab captain Rohit bhaiya hi the toh unse baat kari. Bahut accha laga. Like sab normal hi hai (He makes you feel comfortable. I spoke to him after my name was included in India Test squad and it felt great),” Jurel said.
The 23-year-old Jurel counts Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag among his closest friends in the Indian cricket team considering they also play together for IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.
Rohit will be back in action next month when India host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. It will be India’s fourth series of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
On the other hand, Jurel will be seen in action in the Duleep Trophy 2024 that starts from September 5 where he will represent Team A to be captained by Gill.
