Despite his international debut, Sarfaraz remained unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction that was held in December last year. This led to the cricketer focusing on his preparations for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Getting back into his groove, Sarfaraz was seen doing some batting practice in the nets with his father taking up the bowling duties. Sarfaraz streamed his practice session on Instagram.

Before his debut with India, Sarfaraz Khan made a huge impact in the domestic cricket. Sarfaraz announced his arrival in the 2019/20 Ranji Trophy season where the young batter amassed 928 runs. He achieved these numbers in six matches. He had a good season in the following year as well where he added another 556 runs in six games. Sarfaraz has been part of the India A squad. He received his maiden call-up for the side in 2022 during the Bangladesh tour.
Sarfaraz Khan’s haul in the domestic cricket scene saw him finally make an appearance for the national team. He featured in his maiden Test during the series against England. The five-match series concluded recently with India picking up a dominant 4-1 victory. His debut came in the third Test played in Rajkot. Playing a crucial knock, Sarfaraz added 62 runs in 66 balls, helping his side put up a total of 445.

In the second innings, Sarfaraz Khan was impactful once again as he produced a 72-ball 68. His impressive debut performance saw India win that game by 434 runs. Sarfaraz scored his third fifty of the series in the fifth and final Test, played at Dharamshala, helping India win the match by an innings and 64 runs.
Speaking of Sarfaraz Khan’s spoils in the IPL, he has so far amassed 441 runs in 40 games. He made his IPL debut in 2015 while playing his last season in 2021. Sarfaraz produced his best IPL numbers in the 2018 season when he smashed 180 runs while batting at an average of 45.00. It remains to be seen if the batter makes a return to the competition once again next season.
