Atlee, renowned for directing hit films like Jawan, Raja Rani and Theri, made headlines recently for his response in Tamil to a reporter’s question posed in Hindi at the Ideas of India conclave on ABP Nadu channel. During the interview, Atlee greeted the reporter in English but responded in Tamil when asked questions in Hindi, politely asking about the journalist’s well-being. When questioned about the popularity of Bollywood films in South India, Atlee countered the notion, stating that South Indian audiences appreciate films with good content, citing examples like 3 Idiots which received immense love in the region. He also expressed his disagreement with the term ‘Pan-India’ in the film industry.

Atlee’s views at the conclave were well-received by users, who appreciated his perspective. His fanbase has grown to a pan-India level, especially after the success of Jawan. He emphasised the potential for a sequel, mentioning that he had intentionally left room for continuation in the film’s narrative. Concluding the conversation, Atlee expressed his intent to eventually produce a sequel to Jawan, affirming his dedication to delivering quality cinema to his audience.
