The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) recently announced that it will discontinue property tax payments via cheques starting July 1 due to issues with dishonoured cheques.
“Due to legal issues arising out of dishonoured cheques, payments of property tax through this medium shall be discontinued with effect from July,” it said.
How To Pay MCD Property Tax Online?
Beginning next month, property tax must be paid digitally through UPI, wallets, demand drafts, pay orders, or any online payment gateway, according to the civic body’s statement.
For tax payment, property owners or occupiers can log onto www.mcdonline.nic.in.
The MCD also appealed to property owners and occupiers of vacant land and buildings to pay tax for the year 2024-25 and get a 10 per cent rebate on lump sum payments before June 30th.
As per the provisions of section 114 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2003, all buildings and vacant land falling under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are liable to pay property tax.
