Market fall: what does it mean for investors?
The Sensex slumped 500 points at opening bell on Monday.

New Delhi As the markets crashed more than 500 points today what does it mean for you the investor?

When the Dow Jones index slumped nearly 400 points in the US and crude oil shot up to $139 per barrel, the rest of the world was bracing itself for rough weather on Monday and sell off hit Dalal street like a tidal wave on Monday.

The Sensex slumped 500 points at opening bell, hit a low of 14,846 before managing to crawl its way back to close just over 15,000. So what does the sell off mean for investors?

2008 has been one of the roughest years for the markets. We began with the biggest crash in the Sensex history in January, which were followed by big slides in March and February.

In comparison, the current weakness has been much more staggered but that does not make it any less painful for investors to bear.

What's your reaction?
