Havells India To Get 50 Acres Of Land To Set Up Its Manufacturing Plant In Noida

The government plans to set up a new Electronic Manufacturing Centre (EMCC) in Sector 10 of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is now taking shape. The construction of this cluster has started under the EMCC-2 scheme of the Government of India. Havells India, a company that manufactures fans, coolers, lights, cables and many other electronic products, will be given a plot of 50 acres in this cluster, spread over 200 acres. The company will set up its manufacturing facility here. It will spend around Rs 800 crore on this project. At least 1,000 people will get employment by setting up Havells’ manufacturing facility.

The Government of India has selected Theda area for the electronic manufacturing cluster. Earlier, a similar project was carried out in which Theda had allotted a 100-acre plot to a mobile phone company. The company could not complete the project and returned the land. Now, under the EMCC-2 scheme, Theda has planned to develop an electronic manufacturing cluster on 200 acres of land in Sector 10.

Havells had applied to set up its company in the electronic manufacturing cluster. This application has been approved. The company will be allotted 50 acres of land to set up its plant. The first phase of the Havells project is expected to be operational by 2026. YIDA officials hope that the Havells unit will be approved by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in the next 15-20 days.

According to a report in Times of India, YEIDA CEO, Arun Vir Singh said, “Havells will act as the anchor or main manufacturing unit and will form a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with at least five other companies that will be allotted the remaining 150 acres of land”.

Under the EMC 2.0 scheme, YEIDA will receive financial assistance of Rs 140 crore from the central government for infrastructure development and setting up a Common Facility Centre (CFC) with research and testing labs. EMC 2.0 aims to provide world-class infrastructure with plug-and-play facilities to attract major global electronics manufacturers and their supply chains to India.
