Imtiaz Ali’s highly anticipated Chamkila is all set to release on April 12. The film which stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, is a biographical drama film based on the life of musician Amar Singh Chamkila. For the big day, Parineeti chose a comfortable and stylish, black kaftan dress. The silhouette of the dress led many to speculate if Parineeti is pregnant.
The actress has now taken to social media to react to the rumours. She wrote, Kaftan dress= pregnancy, oversized shirt= pregnancy, comfy indian kurta= pregnancy”.
At the film’s trailer launch event, Imtiaz Ali also revealed that he asked Parineeti to gain 10 kgs for the film. While interacting with the media, Imtiaz shared, “Parineeti said that she’s been waiting for 5 years to do a film, where she can sing. I said, ‘this is such a film’, she said, ‘I’m on [board]. I said ‘wow’. And then we started realising ‘Yaar iski shakal nahi milti Amarjot se, phir maine bola – bahut aasaan kaam hai, samose, malai, chaat yeh sab khaana shuru karo, since you have to gain some 10 kilo weight. No girl would have done it, no guy would have done it, for an actor to put on that much weight.”
Parineeti started getting back in shape from December 2023. The actress had taken to Instagram to share her gruelling workout to get back in shape. She had written, “I spent 6 months this year singing in Rahman sir’s studio, and going back home to eat as much junk as I possibly could to put on 15 KILOS for Chamkila! (Coming soon on Netflix) Music and Food. That was my routine. Now that the film is done, the story is completely the opposite. I miss the studio, and live in the gym trying to get back to looking like myself again. And not like Amarjot ji! Its been hard. But anything for you Imtiaz sir! And this role. Many more inches to go. Let’s do this!”
