Goa is famous for its pleasant weather, delectable seafood and many other aspects. It has also become popular amongst tourists, especially women, for a hair braiding style. According to Local 18 Kannada, it is popularly known as Chendulli and involves a pattern of dark-coloured strands interspersed with the hair.

It has emerged as one of the most preferred hairstyles by women in Goa, especially the brides. They choose this hairstyle because according to them, it looks perfect for them in the bridal photoshoot. When this styling is done on long hair, two or three coloured threads are tied with the hair and hung in a spiral manner. This gives a unique style to the hair.

This hairstyle has become one of the major sources of income for women hairstylists working in Goa’s beauty parlours. Women hailing from the Uttara Kannada District and Gujarat are primarily employed in the profession of doing the Chendulli hairstyle. They can be found working on Goa’s beaches, most commonly Patnem, Candolim and Baga Beach. These women excel in the art of easily weaving the coloured threads in their hair.

A major highlight of this hairstyle is that it costs a nominal rate of Rs 50-100. The News 18 Kannada byte shows a girl getting her hair styled in the Chendulli manner from a woman. The women, employed in the profession of doing the Chendulli hairstyle, use a lot of decorative items as well for the hairstyling. It is evident from the materials kept beside her as shown in the clip.

As explained by the creator, the hair stylists doing the hair braids are found on almost all the Goa beaches. The creator also explained that there are no hair issues post this styling as woollen threads are used for making hair braides. This style is also called hair wrap.
