New Delhi: Tata Motors is all geared to show off its entry-level hatchback, Tata Zica, which is likely to make its debut before the Auto Expo 2016 kicks in. Expectations with this budget hatchback are high for its competitive price tag, two new engine options, and spacious interiors.
Here's all that you need to know about the upcoming hatchback by Tata Motors.
1. Tata Motors will be pricing the Zica hatchback at a very competitive rate. Expect prices to start from around Rs 3.5 lakh for this entry level hatchback.
2. Tata Zica will come in two new engine options- most likely a new 1.05l three-cylinder diesel motor expected to produce 70PS. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional AMT as well. The petrol motor in the Tata Zica is expected to be a 1.2-litre Revotron motor sans the turbocharger, with peak power being upwards of 80PS.
3. The engine also features two driving modes (City and Eco). It’s the first car from the Tata Motors portfolio to feature variable valve timing. Fuel efficiency is expected to be impressive while maintenance cost is said to be lower.
4. It is 3,746mm long and 1,647mm wide with overall height at 1,535mm. However, the Zica stands taller despite a smaller footprint than the Hyundai Grand i10.
5. Top variants will offer infotainment developed by Harman. The stereo offers eight speakers and with a compatible smartphone, there’s also offline navigation available onboard. Zica gets space for a mobile phone, driver side pocket, cup holders in the front console and door pad storage that can accommodate bottles. ABS and airbags may however may only be available as standard in the top variant.
