Greater Noida: Amidst the untimely uproar surrounding the name of its new compact hatchback, Tata Motors’ pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016 nonetheless showcased the Tata Zica.

Among the many highlights of this budget car are the two engine options and spacious interiors.

The compact hatchback is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The 1.2- Revotron petrol motor makes 85PS at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque from 3,500rpm while the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine produces 70PS at 4,000rpm and 140Nm between 1,800 and 3,000rpm.

Inside the spacious hatchback is a Harman touch-screen infortainment system. On the outside, the face features a honeycomb grille while the overall profile takes on the likes of Hyundai Grand i10.

Even before the awaited motor show of the year kick started, Tata Motors was embroiled in a controversy over the name of its new hatchback that many argued sounded similar to the deadly virus 'Zika'.

Acknowledging the concerns, the carmaker said that it will rename the car. However, during the course of the five-day automobile extravaganza, the hatchback will be showcased with the 'Zica' label and a re-branding will follow in the coming weeks.

The car will be launched in India after it is rebranded and is expected to be priced from around Rs 3.5 lakh.

The Auto Expo 2016 will be open for the general public starting February 5.
