Volkswagen is all set to unveil the sixth-generation Polo on 16th June, 2017, just a couple of days from now. Just ahead of its global debut, Volkswagen has dropped a couple of teaser images revealing the front and back lights of the premium hatchback.
The roofline is also altered a bit, which means that the passengers sitting behind could enjoy a better legroom as well as a better headroom, both of which were needed in Polo. A size bump could also mean an increased boot space.
So, overall, the new Polo will be a bit bigger than the current generation model, but we expect it to be a bit light too. The new Polo will be based on the company’s MQB AO platform, meaning it will be more stable, lighter, bigger and frugal.
We are expecting a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI engine and a new 1.5-TSI Evo gasoline engine to do its duty in the Polo, joining the 1.6 TDI motor. But that’s the engines for the international spec car. In India, the Polo is sold with a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre MPI petrol and a 1.5-litre TDI unit. We expect both the motors to remain in tact, with a little bit of bump in the power figures and improved mileage too.Volkswagen looking to hire new CEO for Audi!
Volkswagen is calling the sixth generation model a “completely new generation," model which will boast “numerous technological highlights." We have to wait and watch till Friday to know what highlights VW has added to the new Polo.
Maybe the VW’s 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster known as the "Active Info Display" will make its way to the B-segment hatchback.
