Pakistan captain Babar Azam is not afraid to lose his captaincy even if the Men in Green lose to India in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match. The two arch-rivals are set to add the latest chapter to their historic rivalry on October 14, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be the first time Pakistan will be playing India in India after a long time.
Speaking ahead of the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 group game, Pakistan captain Babar was quizzed whether he was worried about his captaincy in the event should his side lose to India.
Both India and Pakistan have won both of their World Cup matches so far, and the confidence was truly reflected in the 28-year-old’s reply.

When one of the journalists during the pre-match press conference reminded Babar that many captains lost their captaincy after losing to India, he came up with a rather classy reply.
“Ek match se meri kaptaani nahi jaaegi na mili thi, jitni allah ne likhi hai milegi (I never feared about losing captaincy, I’ve belief on Allah that I’ll be Captain as long as Allah has planned for me”).

Pakistan reached the final of the T20 World Cup in 2022 under Babar’s captaincy and the Men in Green had recently become the number 1 ranked ODI side in the World before being displaced by India at the top of the ICC rankings.
The monumental fixture has a lot of buzz and expectations surrounding it, particularly due to the fact that Pakistan has never beaten India in the ODI World Cup so far.

When quizzed about the pressure of the India vs Pakistan game, Babar stated that it is the duty of the senior players to advise the youngsters, and keep things simple, play the match ball by ball.
“Handling pressure comes with experience. When I played India vs Pakistan match for first time, I was under pressure. Job of senior players is to give right message to youngsters. No need to think more, watch the ball and play the ball,” said Azam.
