Israel’s defence system swiftly responded to an unprecedented Iranian attack, showcasing the country’s readiness in the face of a massive attack, which included hundreds of missiles and drones.
The Israeli army on Sunday said that Iran’s attack on Israel using hundreds of drones and missiles had been “foiled,” with 99 percent of them intercepted. “The Iranian attack was foiled,” Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised statement.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari was quick to confirm the Iranian attack on Saturday night, which had been anticipated for days. Iran’s aggressive move prompted a coordinated response from Israel’s defence forces. As missiles rained down and drones swarmed the skies, the IDF scrambled to intercept the Iranian projectiles.
The sophisticated Arrow air defence system proved pivotal in Israel’s defence strategy. Deployed to intercept ballistic missiles, Arrow effectively neutralised the majority of the incoming threats. Fighter jets also took to the skies, engaging with cruise missiles and drones to mitigate the danger posed by Iran’s assault.

Israel’s defence forces
The response was relentless, with Israel’s defence forces remaining vigilant against the evolving threat in the region in the wake of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
As the night wore on, Israel’s defence system continued to operate at full capacity. The military remained on high alert, closely monitoring the situation and preparing for any further incursions. With tensions running high and the threat of further attacks looming, the nation braced itself for the challenges ahead.
US forces, operating from undisclosed bases in the region, provided critical support in intercepting Iranian drones headed towards Israel. Jordanian jets joined the effort, downing dozens of drones flying across northern and central Jordan towards Jerusalem.

‘A clear message’
President Joe Biden said US forces helped Israel shoot down nearly all the drones and missiles fired by Iran but appeared to guide the key US ally away from retaliating against Tehran by saying Israel had now shown its strength. “I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks — sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel,” he said.
He said he had ordered US military aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the Middle East in recent days, as the likely threat following a presumed Israeli strike on Iranians in Damascus became clear. “Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles,” Biden said.
