Amid the uncertainty in the government formation following a chaotic election, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to back the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for the prime minister’s post but will not be a part of the federal government.
According to a report by Geotv, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday announced his withdrawal from the candidacy for prime minister’s post following the party’s post-central executive committee’s (CEC) session.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari cited that PPP “doesn’t have the mandate to form the federal government.”

Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed that it would join hands with Majlis-e-Wahdat-Muslimeen (MWM) to form its governments in Centre and Punjab.
However, according to the latest reports, jailed former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan on Tuesday dismissed the idea of forming a coalition government with any of the main political parties in Pakistan, calling them the “biggest money launderers” being brought to power.
71-year-old Khan and many of his party colleagues are lodged in jail for many months in connection with convictions in multiple cases.
As per a Geotv report, PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan, while speaking to the media in Islamabad on Tuesday, said former prime minister Imran Khan, while ruling out the prospects of any talks with the PML-N, PPP and MQM-P, has directed the party to form a coalition with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over reserved seats.
