Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said it had fired rockets at the city of Haifa in northern Israel on Tuesday.
The Iran-backed group said it had launched a “large rocket salvo” at Haifa and its northern suburbs, after the Israeli military said “85 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory”.
Israeli and Arab media outlets reported 12 Israelis were injured while the Times of Israel said a woman in her 70s sustained shrapnel injuries, and several homes were damaged in the attack.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) later reported that an additional 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon toward the Haifa area, raising the total number fired by Hezbollah to over 100 within just 30 minutes.
It said that air defences intercepted some of the rockets, while others were able to make impact.
