At least 115 people died and over 100 have been injured in the terrorist attack targeting concert goers in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow on Friday. Gunmen from the Islamic State dressed in combat fatigues burst into the concert hall located in the Russian capital and opened fire on the crowd.
Videos on social media from inside the venue showing huge plumes of smoke in the big concert hall and people running in panic, screaming and hiding under seats for cover as shooting sounds could be heard in the background have gone viral.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. The UN, US, EU, India, Iran, Japan and several other nations have condemned the terrorist attack. Russian President Vladimir Putin is yet to comment publicly on the terror attack but through his deputy prime minister wished speedy recovery to those injured.

Social media footage showed people inside the concert hall scurrying about to save their lives as sounds of assault rifles firing could be heard in the background. The gunmen sped away in a van and are not yet apprehended.

The US said that it earlier warned Russia about a possibility of a terror attack which would target mass gatherings. The people who faced the assault at the Crocus City Hall had gathered there for a concert by Soviet-era rock bank, Piknik.
The rock band has been evacuated safely.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is yet to publicly comment on the terror attack but wished victims a speedy recovery through his deputy prime minister. He also spoke to the heads of the law enforcement and emergency services following the deadly attack and received reports from the head of the security services (FSB), the Investigative Committee, the National Guard, and the ministers of interior, health and emergency situations, the Kremlin told Russian news outlets.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on one of its social media outlets and said attackers have ‘safely returned to their bases’ after attacking the innocents at the Crocus City Hall.
