A Ukrainian drone attack on Monday resulted in a woman being injured and damage to homes in two major cities in Russia’s Saratov region, according to the regional governor.
A residential complex in the city of Saratov was damaged by falling debris from drones destroyed by Russia’s air defence systems, regional governor Roman Basurgin said on the Telegram messaging app.
Saratov high-rise
A video posted on Telegram showed what it identified as a high-rise residential building in Saratov, with a damaged side and several windows blown out across three floors. Another video going viral on the social media platform X showed a drone crashing into a building. However, News18 couldn’t independently verify the authenticity of the video.

“A woman was hospitalised in serious condition,” Basurgin said. “Doctors are fighting for her life.” Earlier, Basurgin said emergency services had fanned out at affected sites in Saratov and Engels, key cities in the region several hundred kilometres southeast of the capital.
Russia has a strategic bomber military base in Engels that Ukraine has attacked numerous times since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in Feb. 2022. Both sides deny targeting civilians in the war is continuing after two years.
These attacks came as Ukrainian military and local authorities said on Sunday that Russia launched attacks on northern, eastern and southern Ukraine, killing at least four people and injuring 37.
Overnight attacks targeted Ukraine’s frontline regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk, Ukraine’s air force said on Telegram. Russia has been pummelling Ukrainian border regions with strikes, and Kyiv said its surprise incursion earlier this month into Russia’s Kursk region aimed to hinder Moscow’s ability to stage such attacks.
