Dining at a popular restaurant in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park turned out to be a stomach-churning experience for three friends when they found a worm in the vegetable pulao they ordered. When pointed out, the restaurant staff’s casual reply led to escalation of the matter to the involvement of the Food Safety Department.
Sharing the harrowing incident on social media, advocate Aditya Bhati, who works at the District Court in Surajpur, said he and two of his friends were dining at the restaurant when they found a worm in the veg pulao.
“We had already paid the bill of Rs 2,000. When we informed the restaurant management about the worm, they claimed it had fallen from above and insisted that nothing could be done,” Bhati said.
The trio decided not to eat the remaining food and asked the restaurant management for a resolution. But after much debate, the matter remained unresolved. That’s when Bhati chose to narrate his experience on social media, accusing the restaurant of endangering public health.
In his post, the advocate tagged the district administration and the Chief Minister, demanding action against the restaurant management.
Once the photo and video posted by Bhati went viral, a team from the Food Safety Department visited the restaurant to collect samples. Assistant Commissioner (Food) Sarvesh Mishra said the department became aware of the incident through social media. The matter is now under investigation.
