Recently, a video showcasing a luggage weight hack has gone viral on social media, attracting significant attention from the public.

As we all know, managing luggage weight at the airport is crucial, as excess baggage incurs additional charges. In the viral video, a clever woman demonstrates how she managed to reduce her luggage weight by 5 kg using an inventive trick.

The video shows the woman having her luggage weighed at the airport. The weight of her baggage is around 24.5 kg. Upon realising she would have to pay extra for the additional weight, she comes up with a clever solution. As the luggage is being weighed, the woman subtly lifts the bag with her right foot, and immediately, the weight displayed drops to 19.5 kg.

In this way, the woman avoided paying the surcharge for extra luggage. The video was posted by two individuals named Zore and Tomek, under the handle @Zoreandtomek. Titled ‘Luggage weight hack’, the video has garnered 128 million views and 1.4 million likes, with many users sharing their opinions in the comment section.

One user, an aircraft mechanic, offered an important warning regarding this trick. He explained that it is crucial to weigh everything on the aircraft accurately to calculate the centre of gravity. Incorrect luggage weight could significantly affect the aircraft’s centre of gravity, leading to a slower flight, increased fuel consumption, and potentially even a crash.

In response, another user pointed out that if luggage weight alone could cause a crash, airlines would weigh passengers as well to ensure the plane is balanced. Another airport employee echoed this, stating that luggage weight does not impact the aircraft’s balance, as the plane will fly regardless. One user sarcastically commented that perhaps passengers themselves should be weighed instead of their luggage.
