In a world where celebrities turning everyday moments into extraordinary spectacles is the norm, social media goes into a frenzy to showcase their ‘special’ antics. However, gone are the days when the internet used to go gaga over celebrities for doing the bare minimum. Nowadays, people seem to have outgrown the era of ‘hero-worshipping’ for trivial reasons. This shift was evident when Ranbir Kapoor found himself in the spotlight for shielding his wife, actor Alia Bhatt, during their recent visit to Ayodhya Ram Mandir, walking through a sea of devotees. The internet, ever the quick judge, wasted no time in quashing the unnecessary hype, pointing out that it was just another day-to-day gesture that ordinary folks often perform for their loved ones in crowded situations.
The viral post featuring Ranbir protecting Alia with the caption, “the way Ranbir Kapoor is protecting Alia Bhatt <3; look how he’s holding her,” sparked a wave of criticism, with people calling it out for glorifying the ‘least’ simply because it involved celebrities.

One user critiqued, “Because social norms are so low, minimum behavior is often viewed as the standard of excellence or high points. Even though I adore Ranbir and alia wholeheartedly, but writing something so basic makes me consider how little we really expect from those around us” Another scoffed, “Bhai yeh chalte fire crowd me sabhi ladke apni female friends, siblings, mom, gf, wife ke liye karte hain. bare minimum nahi hai kya yeh?” The third cynically remarked, “How do you all glamorise even the most basic things that celebrities do, which are essentially what most people do out there every day?”

However, the critics weren’t without opposition. Defenders argued that the hate was unwarranted, with one user saying, “Jealous se , Bare minimum kahne valon ko ek prasn…Lipstick colour par opinion Dena, bare minimum nahi hi kya? Tab whole sm kyon attack Kiya Ranbir ko?” Another opined, “I guess how get gets smeared on social media as a red flag for absolutely nothing, this is an equal and opposite glorification.”
