In Wholesome Video, American Content Creator Praises Indian Hospitality But Has This Issue
In the video, John reveals how he is deeply moved by the friendliness and hospitality of Indians.

Indians are known for their amazing hospitality which is based on the Sanskrit phrase Atithi Devo Bhava, meaning “the guest is equivalent to God”. Often tourists visiting India heap praise on the country’s warm-hearted people and its rich cultural heritage. Echoing a similar sentiment, an American content creator named John dropped a video on Instagram sharing his experience of what happens when he visits someone’s house in India unannounced. According to his bio, John is married to an Indian woman and is seemingly aware of the country’s culture and traditions.

In the video, John reveals how he is deeply moved by the friendliness and hospitality of Indians. “Indians are amazing when it comes to hospitality. I could arrive at an Indian’s house at 4 pm without telling them and they are still going to feed me a lot of food,” he says. However, he mentions that in America the scenario is entirely different. “If you do that in America, you are lucky to get a glass of water,” reveals John.

The content creator has only one food-related “problem” about India. Elaborating on the topic he explains, “The only problem in India is that a lot of times they give me way too much food. I try to be polite and indirect and tell them that I am getting full but they still give me too much food and I feel like it would be rude if I just stop eating.” “How do I visit an Indian’s house without them feeding me too much food? I love the hospitality but sometimes it is too much!” read his honest caption.

Reactions were quick to follow. “For Indians ‘mehmaan bhagwan hote hai’” commented an individual. “That’s our love language,” chimed in another. Suggesting a “cheat code”, a person said, “Tell them you are getting full when you are only Half full actually. So by the end of the meal, you are actually full. Btw giving more food equals more love.” Presenting an almost similar situation a user wrote, “We will call you for evening tea, and insist you to have dinner with us.”

So far the video has amassed over 90,000 views on Instagram. Do you agree with John?
