In an unfortunate incident, a 25-year-old technician, Mahendra Yadav, died after being electrocuted on the sets of Star Plus’ popular show Imlie 3. Reportedly, Mahendra Yadav hailed from Uttar Pradesh and worked as the lightman in Goregaon Film City as a daily wager. Time and again, news about tragic incidents on TV sets has dominated headlines, raising questions about the safety of the sets amid packed schedules. As per reports, action is being taken against the show’s makers after the fatal accident, and the victim’s family is also expected to be compensated.
As per a report by ETimes, the lightman was rushed to the hospital after being electrocuted; however, he succumbed on the way. It is unclear where or how the technician was electrocuted. Reportedly, Mahendra Yadav worked as a lightman on the sets of various daily soaps prior to Imlie. The AICWA (All Indian Cine Workers Association) President is pressing on three issues following this tragic incident. First, action should be taken against the show’s producer, Gul Khan, PH 4 Lion Films, and the channel. Second, Rs 50 lakh should be compensated to the family of the deceased labourer, and third, the Managing Director and Commissioner of Film City should quit with immediate effect. Additionally, the shooting for the show has also been halted after the incident, as per reports.
Imlie is a popular television series produced by Gul Khan under her banner, Four Lions Films. The show recently took a 20-year leap and Adrija Roy and Sai Ketan Rao play the key characters. Adrija Toy has reprised the role of Imlie, and Sai Ketan Rao is portraying the character of Agastya. Their friendship and chemistry in the initial few episodes have resonated well with the audience, and they are now anticipating the series’ forthcoming episodes.
The unique love story has received a lot of praise from viewers. The show started in 2020, with Sumbul Touqeer and Fahmaan Khan as the leads. Later, Megha Chakraborty and Karan Vohra took over as the lead in the second generation. The premise of the story revolves around Imlie, an aspiring rural girl who travels through life’s twists and turns and survives. On her journey, she finds love and family and makes ends meet to protect them. The show was a remake of the Bengali serial Ishti Kutum, which aired on Star Jalsha.
