She opened up about feeling nervous before auditions and how she dealt with rejection.

Tina Datta, a well-known figure in the Indian television industry, rose to fame through her role in the highly popular show Uttaran. Her journey in the world of acting began when she was just a child artist. However, even she faced numerous challenges while working her way up the ladder. Over the years, she has appeared in various television programs and garnered a substantial fan base. However, Tina’s path to success was far from smooth.

In conversation with Pinkvilla, Tina Datta recalled the days when she shifted from Kolkata to Mumbai, aspiring to make it big in the entertainment industry. She shared, “It was tough to adjust initially, but 80% of people were very welcoming, 20% were not, which happens everywhere, whether it’s a corporate business or everywhere it’s the same thing.”

She mentioned that the only way to survive this is to be patient and “just have to hang in there.” Tina added that one has to have a positive mindset and wait for things to fall into place.

Tina also revealed that her early struggles in the industry were exacerbated by language barriers. Coming from Kolkata, her Hindi skills were far from perfect. She admitted, “It was difficult. My Hindi was pathetic. Abhi bhi mera thi or tha mei bohot jhol hota hai (I’m still confused with he and she). But it’s okay, people keep correcting me. Because in Bengali, we even eat water, we eat food and we even eat tea. We eat everything (laughs). So, it gets complicated at times, but it’s okay.”

When it comes to auditioning for roles and dealing with rejection, Tina confessed, “I wouldn’t lie, I still go through anxiety. I still do. On my first day of shooting, I am very nervous, I am very anxious.” She went on to emphasize that it is perfectly normal to feel scared, anxious, or have a touch of stage fright, reassuring others that it’s all part of the journey.

Tina also shared her coping strategy for dealing with nervousness. Whenever she feels anxious, she focuses on regulating her breathing and reminds herself that she must give her absolute best to the role she’s undertaking.

Tina Datta’s recent work includes her appearance in the show Hum Rahein Na Rahein Hum alongside Jay Bhanushali. Before that, she participated in Bigg Boss 16 the previous year.
