Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 to Moto G4 Plus: Top 5 Android Phones Under Rs 15K
With the view to help you make an informed choice, we have sifted through the herd to bring you the top 5 Android phones, which are not only good to look at, but also deliver on performance.

There is no dearth of budget phones in the market. And the availability of so many options is what makes it more difficult for consumers to make a pick. You would find a lot of phones in the budget category boasting of similar specifications, but what really matters is the experience. A spec sheet may hint at the phone's power and performance, but it can never be a true indicator of how a phone actually gets along in real life.

With the view to help you make an informed choice, we have sifted through the herd to bring you the top 5 Android phones, which are not only good to look at, but also deliver on performance.

1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Price: Rs 9,999 (16 GB) and Rs 11,999 (32 GB)

It's one of the first phones to have come up from the Xiaomi stable this year. The Redmi Note 3 happens to be the first Redmi phone to have a metal body and a fingerprint sensor. The phone not only features a premium finish, but also shows off flawless curves at the back which go on to add to its convenient handling. Another highlight of the phone is a 16 megapixel f/2.0 rear camera with two-tone dual-LED flash that not only captures good light, but also produces true-to-life colours. Also, this is the only phone in the list to have the base model priced under Rs 10K. The phone comes in two variants - 16 GB (with 2 GB RAM) and 32 GB (with 3 GB RAM).

2. Moto G4 Plus

Price: Rs 13,499 (16 GB) and Rs 14,499 (32 GB)

This is the fourth version of the Moto G smartphone - a phone that had marked the re-entry of Motorola into India over two years ago. And with the G4 Plus, the company, for the first time, has introduced the Moto G smartphone with a fingerprint sensor. In case you didn't know, the new Moto G comes in two variants - the G4 and the G4 Plus. While the former lacks a fingerprint scanner, the latter has it. Also, the G4 is yet to make its way to the Indian market. In other words, of the two Moto G4 versions, only the G4 Plus is available in India for now.

What makes this phone take an edge over others in the list is the close-to-native Android experience on it, which actually keeps your phone free of bloatware. While other handsets are also based on Android, they are nowhere close to stock Android. Also, unlike the Redmi Note 3, this dual-SIM phone doesn't have a hybrid SIM slot, which means it can accommodate three cards - two SIM cards and a microSD card - at the same time.

Available in two variants, the 16 GB model includes 2 GB of RAM, while the 32 GB variant comes with 3 GB RAM.

3. Lenovo ZUK Z1

Price: Rs 13,499

ZUK is not a smartphone series of Lenovo; it, instead, is a subsidiary of Lenovo. And the ZUK Z1 is their first phone to have come to India. The biggest highlight of the phone is 64 GB onboard storage. While 64 GB of internal storage on phones is not a big deal, but such a huge space on an under-Rs 15K device goes on to be an x-factor for this phone. Nevertheless, the phone, unlike Redmi Note 3 and Moto G4 Plus, doesn't support microSD card. But isn't the 64 GB storage space enough? Also, the phone runs the much-loved Cyanogen OS (based on Android Lollipop 5.1.1). Available in a single variant, the dual-SIM Zuk Z1 includes a fingerprint sensor and a 4100 mAh battery, which is as big as the one in the Redmi Note 3.

4. Yu Yunicorn

Price: Rs 13,499

This phone offers a mix of good looks and great performance, but there is nothing that makes it stand out in the list. Packed with a 4000 mAh battery, the Yu Yunicorn lasts longer than its competitors. While the camera performance on the phone is acceptable, it's not at par with others in the list. So, if you like mobile photography, you can give it a miss. But if power, performance and looks are what you look for in a phone, it's a good contender.

5. LeEco Le 1s

Price: Rs 10,999

Featuring a premium design, the Le Eco Le 1s is one of the few phones in the budget category to have a a full-metal unibody design. Also, the ultra-thin bezel on the display keeps its dimensions in control, which adds to its comfortable handling. Also, the great performance and decent cameras on the phone work in its favour.

The company recently introduced the LeEco Le 2, which looks promising, but it is yet to go on sale. The Le 2 will be available in the country from July.
