Tired Of Zoom And Google Meet Calls? Well, You’re Not Alone
Video calls via Zoom and Google Meet have been important for people who have been working from home or remotely in the past few years.

Video meetings have taken precedence in the past few years due to the pandemic-induced changes across the world. People were relying on platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams to carry on with their work. But all these video meetings seem to have taken a toll on people, which many have phrased as ‘Zoom fatigue’ which could be Google Meet fatigue also.

Now, there is scientific data that reportedly suggests the impacts of long video meetings on your brain and heart. The data has been provided by a team of Austrian researchers wherein they had 35 university students tested for their brain and heart activities while they attended a 50-minute video meet.

In fact, the tests also suggested that the students attending the video lectures needed a break after 30 minutes of engaging in the session.

To make things interesting, 18 of these students were made to attend lectures in-person, while the rest were made to watch it via video meets. The researchers pointed out that 50 minutes of video conferencing had a higher level of fatigue compared to those in the in-person meetings.

The author of the study also mentioned that people should see video meets as a complimenting platform to in-person meets rather than as a substitute. These observations also hint that more people who prefer to work remotely should consider going back to the office for work but other studies say that flexibility in work hours and limiting travel time for work has a direct benefit for the employees who tend to give better returns.

You might say that the sample size of testing is small to determine a large cause for concern but it is hard to dismiss the impact of these platforms and how multiple video calls in a day could affect people or has affected people in the past 3 years.

What's your reaction?
