New Delhi: Online leaks about Oppo's next smartphone reportedly point to an almost sans-bezel device. Taking cues from Samsung's latest curved edge display, the trend seems to be picking up with Oppo being the newest in line.
A report on Engadget noted that the leaked images of the smartphone, running Oppo's ColorOS Android ROM, shows the device sporting an almost edge-to-edge screen similar to the one in Sharp AQUOS Crystal series.
These images coincide with another report by GSM Arena which states that an Oppo patent shows the use of light refraction to give the illusion of a bezel-free screen. It mentions the use of a new technology covering a traditional rectangular display module with special light guide structure.
Without having to alter the current manufacturing process, a special curve at the end of the transparent overlay will diffract light from the panel in such a way that it will essentially hide the bezel.
