Incredible Tech: Apple CEO Tim Cook Gives Reasons For Vision Pro Headset Costing Around Rs 3 Lakh
Apple Vision Pro headset is now available in the market but people still want to now why does it cost a bomb?

Apple Vision Pro has finally gone on sale and the $3,499 (Rs 2.90 lakh approx) headset is splitting opinions purely because of the technology on which the company is betting big.

Apple’s entry into the mixed reality (XR) space has been much later than most tech giants like Meta and even Google to some extent. But now with the entry official and the product out on the shelves, it is time to see the market response, which is reportedly close to selling around 180,000 units. It is interesting that right before the product went on sale, Apple CEO Tim Cook made an appearance in the media wearing the Vision Pro headset in front of the public eyes for the very first time.

But the main question that everyone is asking Cook and Co. is, why does it cost so much? Well, there is no surprise that Apple is charging a premium for its first headset but why is there a 6x price difference between the Vision Pro and Meta Quest headset?

Tim Cook was understandably quizzed about this, to which, the Apple CEO said, the high price is indicative of the advanced technology packed into the device.

The company feels that having the headset run on two Apple silicone, built with the use of over 5,000 patents and offer over 500 apps on launch, making it a quality addition to the market for consumers. And if that isn’t enough a reason for the company to command a hefty price tag for the product, Cook reiterates the effort of years that has gone into making spatial computing a reality that has been possible with the help of machine learning and AI.

If the company has managed close to 2 lakh pre-orders for the product, it seems Apple could give a new lease of life to the segment, something that Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg is banking on, which could mean that his company could have an Android-like impact in the segment.

While Apple has got hundreds of apps compatible on the headset from day one, the company is missing out on big-ticket names like Netflix, YouTube and a few more platforms.
