In a treat for travellers, Google has launched Google Earth VR, which enables users to roam around the Earth without leaving their houses.
Ten years ago, Google Earth began as an effort to help people everywhere explore the planet. Today, we are introducing Google Earth VR as our next step to help the world see the world, says the search engine giant.
People are familiar with Google Earth or Google Street programmes, but Google Earth VR takes viewers right above mountains, city landmarks and oceans.
Google Earth VR covers the entire 196.9 million square miles of the Earth and has also included cinematic tours and destinations through places such as the Amazon River, the Grand Canyon and the ruins of Rome for the virtual travellers.
It can be downloaded via gaming platform Steam and can be run only on VR headsets like Playstation VR, the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
