Bengaluru: Online retailer Amazon.com has launched a hardware that allows its Prime members to order a product by pushing a button.
The Dash Button, which is connected with the Amazon app through WiFi, is brand specific and the company has tied up with household names such as Tide, Huggies and Gillette.
It comes with a reusable adhesive and a hook so you can hang, stick, or place it right where you need it. You can keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favourite products. When you are running low of products, simply press Dash Button, and Amazon claims to quickly deliver products so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.
The offer, limited to three Dash buttons per customer, is only open to members who receive an email from the company with an invitation to receive a free Dash Button.
Reuters had reported in September that Amazon would boost staffing at its secretive Silicon Valley-based hardware unit as it tests Internet-connected "smart" home gadgets.
While the latest product from Amazon was earlier assumed to be an April Fool prank, the company in an email response to Mashable confirmed that "indeed it is real."
