Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the lead role in Aadujeevitham or The Goat Life. The film narrates the tale of a Malayali immigrant labourer compelled into slavery on an isolated farm in Saudi Arabia. Originating in 2009, Director Blessy initiated a deal with the story’s original author for a film adaptation, later bringing Prithviraj Sukumaran on board.
In 2015, Blessy secured backing from producers Jimmy Jean-Louis and Steven Adams for this unique project. The filming spanned from 2018 to 2022, facing setbacks owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports emerged of the crew encountering difficulties in Jordan during shooting, leading to their evacuation aboard a Vande Bharat plane.
Director Blessy has spent nearly two decades working on the realization of The Goat Life. Production began a year before the pandemic, with significant scenes filmed in Kerala, Jordan, and Algeria. Blessy is the screenplay writer for this project.
Funded by Visual Romance, The Goat Life features Amala Paul in the lead female role. The film’s soundtrack and background music were composed by A R Rahman, with cinematography by Sunil K S. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated movie is scheduled for theatrical release on April 10, 2024.
