Actor-director Gopi Gandhi Announces His Next Titled MGR Rasikan
On MGR’s 36th death anniversary, on December 24, the movie’s title was unveiled at Namakkal (Tamil Nadu).

Tamil actor-turned-director Gopi Gandhi was recently present at the naming ceremony of his upcoming movie titled MGR Rasikan. This has left MG Ramachandran’s fans ecstatic. Let’s take a look at the details about the upcoming movie. Gopi Gandhi founded and runs the International RSG Samuka Seva Kendra. He has produced several social awareness short films for the past few years. He has also directed the film Muthal Maanavan in 2014. Gopi Gandhi is a huge fan of former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran aka MGR. He is now going to direct and act in a movie which will focus on MGR.

On MGR’s 36th death anniversary, the movie’s title was unveiled at Namakkal (Tamil Nadu), Gopi’s hometown. For the unversed, the multi-hyphenated personality, MGR was a famous politician who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1977. He passed away at the age of 70, on December 24, 1987. He was the founder of the political party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He was also a well-known star of Tamil film industry. Such is his popularity, that despite 36 years after his death, his fans were seen visiting the MGR Memorial at Marina Beach.

Gopi Gandhi is also one of MGR’s followers. While speaking at an event, he revealed that MGR joined theatre at a very young age and it was only with his hard work and talent that he paved his way to the top and became one of the most bankable actors and then turned to politics. Reportedly, MGR was known to spend all his money by setting up a foundation for the benefit of the poor and needy people. When he founded AIADMK, he received immense support from his fans.

For his upcoming movie, MGR Rasikan, Gopi Gandhi will be portraying the role of MGR’s fan. To essay the role perfectly, he met many of his fans, talked to them and wrote a story after meeting them. He decided to name the movie on his memorial day, that is, December 24. He plans to make the movie in a way that everyone will enjoy. The shooting of the movie will commence soon. The cinematography for the movie will be handled by Kumaran, edited by Gokul Krishna and other crew members also participated in the event.
