Certain Congress MLAs are also against the autocratic functioning of Adhir Chowdhury and how he is running the show in the Congress state unit," he said on condition of anonymity.

Kolkata: A senior Trinamool Congress leader on Tuesday claimed that several MLAs from Murshidabad and Malda are in touch with the party as they are against the "unholy and immoral" alliance between Congress and CPI(M).

"Several MLAs from Malda, Murshidabad and other parts of the state are in touch with us. They want to join TMC.

They are against the unholy and immoral alliance between Congress and CPI(M).

Certain Congress MLAs are also against the autocratic functioning of Adhir Chowdhury and how he is running the show in the Congress state unit," he said on condition of anonymity.

Those who want to join TMC want to be part of the development process initiated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said.

Malda and Murshidabad are considered strongholds of Congress with the latter being under state Congress president Chowdhury.

Recently in a blow to Congress and Left Front, TMC took control of Malda and Jalpaiguri zilla parishads after several of its members switched over to it.

Congress and CPI(M) plagued by defections and infighting are finding it difficult to keep their flock together.

TMC since its thumping win in the assembly polls earlier this year managed to take over various opposition controlled municipalities and panchayats in the state.

Two MLAs, one each from Congress and Left Front, switched over to TMC last month bringing down the opposition strength in the assembly to 74 from 76 in the 294-member house.
