A PIL was filed in the the Kerala HC questioning the government's decision to make the UID mandatory for subsidized LPG cylinders.
New Delhi: In a blow to the government's pet Aadhar card scheme, the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Election Commission and the central government asking that services like the subsidised gas cylinder be delinked from the Aadhar card.
A public interest litigation was filed in the the Kerala high court questioning the government's decision to make the Unique Identification Number (UID) or the Aadhaar mandatory for getting subsidized LPG cylinders.
The PIL said that the central government had divergent views on making Aadhaar mandatory for gas subsidy. The complainant had requested the court for an order against the linking of Aadhaar with gas subsidy.
