Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday made a personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, threatening to derail the NDA government's plan to get the Land Acquisition Bill passed in Parliament.
Asserting that the Congress party won't allow the government to take away even one inch of land belonging to farmers, the Congress leader attacked PM Modi saying "the 56-inch chest will become 5.6 inch in six months time".
"Who will make it a 5.6 inch chest? The citizens of India, the Congress party, and the Indian farmers do it. You will see it," said the Gandhi scion during an address in Jaipur.
The Congress vice president also used the opportunity to target Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi controversy.
Hitting out at the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi said that the Raje government in the state was being remote controlled from London.
Targeting the Narendra Modi government over its promise to bring back black money, Gandhi said they should first bring back Lalit Modi, "who is sitting in London with thousand of crores".
This came amid an attack on Congress by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. In an apparent swipe at the culture of dynasty politics, PM Modi mocked Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, saying "we all know what things are heard of son-in-laws these days".
